The German Association for Central Asia is happy to invite you to our upcoming online expert talk on 27.6.24 with the renowned film director Dr. SAHRAA KARIMI on the topic of GENDER APARTHEID AND THE SILENCE OF WESTERN COUNTRIES.
Sahraa Karimi is probably the most renowned Afghan film maker and was the first chairwoman of the Afghan Film Organization AFO. Her multiple-award winning movies like the documentary “Afghan Women behind the Wheel” (2009) give the audience intimate insights into the complex realities of life of Afghan women. She fled in August 2021 after the fall of Kabul and is a strong advocate for human and especially women’s rights and the support of cultural workers from Afghanistan.
